Virginia Woolf : The Unsolved Mystery of Her Death

This is not A Hat and A Stick

It was as usual a dull afternoon of April 1941. Under a bridge in Southease children were playing Hide and Seek discovered a washed up dead body of a woman. It could not be identified immediately due to putrefaction. There was no missing complaint in the record of Police. Rodmell is a small village and civil parish in the Lewes District of East Sussex in England. Virginia Woolf and her husband Leonard Woolf bought a weather boarded cottage in 1919. Her sister Vanessa also lived in a nearby farmhouse.

The Monk House, which was once lively with spirited intellectuals like T. S. Eliot and E. M. Forster was now wrapped up in dead silence. Bloomsbury Group deeply mourned the sudden demise of their beloved member.

Associated Press made an official announcement “Mrs. Woolf’s body found” on 19 April confirming that she was drowned in the river Ouse three weeks earlier. The body was decomposed and flesh was eaten by fishes. A hat and cane were discovered at some distance above, upstream on the bank of the river. They were identified to belong to Virginia Woolf. Her house was also in proximity to the place where hat and stick were discovered. It was not an accident, she had committed suicide.

“April is the cruellest month” said T.S.Eliot in the opening line of his much admired poem "The Wasteland". No doubt it took away one of the most admired scholars of the twentieth century.

A letter addressed to her husband was recovered which proved her intention to commit suicide, but no investigation was held. Her husband was a powerful politician in the Village Rodmell and played an important role in the society of the village.

What happens in the four walls of “a room of one’s own” is nobodies guess.

"A woman makes her house a work of art in which the very walls are permeated by her creative force."

The backyard of her house had two Elm trees. They were intertwined like a romantic couple in embrace. One tree was strong and dominating than other. Virginia called them "Leonard and Virginia" in satire perhaps. Her remains were buried under the tree and the epitaph reads

Against you I fling myself

unvanquished and unyielding

O Death ! the waves broke on the shore

These lines are taken from her novel "The Waves".

Who can read her suicide note without a turmoil and pang in the heart.

One cannot believe it is written by the same woman who advocated equality of men and women working together for a common cause. Men and women must make willing emotional acknowledgement of each other as individuals. Mrs. Dalloway and Mrs. Ramsay of Three Guineas created on the bank of Ouse in the wooden cottage were reflections of ‘those terrible times’ she mentioned in her suicide note.

“Dearest, I feel certain that I am going mad again. I feel we can’t go through another of those terrible times. And I shan’t recover this time. I begin to hear voices, and I can’t concentrate. So I am doing what seems the best thing to do. You have given me the greatest possible happiness. You have been in every way all that anyone could be. I don’t think two people could have been happier ’til this terrible disease came. I can’t fight any longer. I know that I am spoiling your life, that without me you could work. And you will I know. You see I can’t even write this properly. I can’t read. What I want to say is I owe all the happiness of my life to you. You have been entirely patient with me and incredibly good. I want to say that — everybody knows it. If anybody could have saved me it would have been you. Everything has gone from me but the certainty of your goodness. I can’t go on spoiling your life any longer. I don’t think two people could have been happier than we have been. V.”

There is excessive gratitude in the suicide note. Does a wife need to be so much grateful to her husband for spending happy time together. Is it only she who has a happy time or it is a happy time together.

Every happiness has a subtle streak of melancholy, but here it is so obvious. Many members of the Bloomsbury Group discard the theory that Virginia suffered from nervous breakdown. They found her ‘enormous fun’.

Her lesbian friend Vita said “I am reduced to a thing that wants Virginia.” In a letter Virginia once wrote to Vita “I am in bed making up stories about you.” Such loveable creatures do not pass away or just melt into thin air, the truth and reality pop on surface as chaotic impressions in triviality and ordinary day event of life, as she was discovered by playing children.

Some of her relatives believed and even confessed that it was better if her body was never recovered.

Modern Man and the Ape Man came across each other at the bridge, once again. Modern Man had come to admire nature on the recommendation of his Psychiatrist and Ape Man had come to admire the technology of man-made bridge. When Modern Man asked Ape Man about his views on boredom, he was reluctant to share. When Modern Man insisted he spoke only one line.

“Here one can neither stand nor lie nor sit”

For Modern Man the line was simply absurd. What can someone do if not stand, lie or sit? Fly? He was annoyed at the Ape Man, as if he was responsible for what Tiresias said.

"No you can’t even fly, because you do not have a powerful imagination like Super Man". Modern Man felt stuck. He looked at Ape Man.

Ape Man explained “To look for anything is to act on the hypothesis that it exists, faith precedes faith in regressive manner.” Modern Man remembered having heard this too. Ape Man said “You can’t take stand for your belief, you can’t prostrate in surrender, nor you can contemplate in lotus position. So you are doomed.”

Modern Man was stunned till he received a voice message from his wife. “I am at a party and will return home at late tonight. Do not wait for me. Serve dinner yourself. Love you, baby”. Followed by the sound of a kiss.

They had an instant eye contact. Ape Man was smiling satirically. Both had noticed that excuse to party was lame. The voice was hollow and there was no background noise of the party.

Ape Man said “If there were water…or….if there were the sound of water only.” After a pause, he said "Hollow Woman”.

Modern Man ignored the remark. He did not want to discuss his personal relationship with his wife with the Ape Man.

Ape Man could read the mind of Modern Man. He changed the topic. He told to Modern Man “Your civilisation is travelling back, towards us and our civilisation is travelling forward towards you. Like a time traveller we are neither past nor future. I hear about your nude beaches and organic farming. You are back to nature on the advice of your psychiatrist. In my clan many women have started covering their private parts with sheep skin. I know this shame will make our society corrupt. Women with covered skin becomes more desirable. This will lead to all other types of corruption.”

“Stop them from wearing loincloth. You are the Head” Modern Man retorted.

“Society is also dynamic. It evolves and undergoes a change with the advancement of time like an individual”. Ape Man was now in a trance. He continued "Chinua Achebe in Things Fall Apart could not stop society from evolving”.

Modern Man knew he was talking to a Time Traveller.

Modern Man decided to take his opinion. “Why did you call our women as hollow” he asked.

“Because they are more bothered about reputation than chastity. Remember Philomela?” Ape Man asked.

Modern Man nodded. He had been reading The Waste Land many times a day. Chastity was no more a virtue in his society. Everything is mechanical. Even Sex. Mechanisation is Boredom. Even all the attempts to break the monotony have also become stereotyped.

Chastity of Pamela by Richardson was mocked at in Shamela by Henry Fielding. Chastity even a fake chastity is better, as a bad man is better than bad name.©

Things were falling into place when the Modern Man received a voice message from his girlfriend.

To save himself from embarrassment Modern Man walked away.

Men will never be equal to Women

Wollstonecraft and Virginia Wolfe had a great vision. They knew the direction in which the society was heading. They talked about issues which will remain relevant for many centuries to come. The saga that started with demand of a room of one's own, has not come to an end. Every strong thesis has an equally strong antithesis. Feminism does not have any antithesis. Neither Masculism nor Egalitarianism serves the purpose. Anti-Feminist is, one who does not subscribe to Feminism. Feminism is a theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes and covers all organized activities to claim the right, and protect the interest of women. My antithesis of Feminism is Negative Feminism. "Negative Feminism is protection of the right and needs of Men. Some important components of this theory are as follows:

1. Masculism-

This term is still unknown to the dictionary. Though an ambiguous page on Wikipedia says that it is the advocacy of the rights and needs of men. In case of women it is ‘right and interest’ while in case of men it is ‘right and needs’. This explains a lot. The women are already standing at the top of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. They are searching for identity, which in a way is self-realization or self actualization need. Men on the other hand, are striving to fulfill their physiological needs. The responsibility to earn a square meal is on his shoulder. He is supposed to work hard and earn all amenities for his family. The society condemns a man who fails to do so. On the play 'Death of a Salesman’ by Arthur Miller, Willy Loman commits suicide when he fails to provide facilities for his family. He had one dream; to fulfil the dreams of his family members. On the other hand, in the play ‘The Doll’s House’ by Henrik Ibsen, Nora Helmer deserted her husband and three children just because her husband refused to take the blame of forgery she had committed. Either way, it is the man who is a sufferer if he fails to fulfil expectations of woman from him.

Women lack genius and genuine morality, men lack passion and compassion, for these qualities they have to imitate each other.

2. Bachelorette

The female counterpart of the Bachelor is Spinster. Now a single unmarried woman is called Bachelorette. Spinster is woman past the usual age of marrying and is considered unlikely to marry. So a male spinster is still waiting to be christened. We need to acknowledge the psychological needs of the man who is past the usual age of marriage and is considered unlikely to marry. Why famous artist like Voltaire, Beethoven, Leonardo Di Vinci and Henry James chose to remain celibate? Why an imaginative genius child is retarded by a dominating woman in his life ? Women may be classified on the basis of their relationship with men. Prefix of Miss and Mrs. defines their status and thus availability but men have been denied any such privilege. Virginity also defines a women, but no parallel word is coined for males of the same species. Man has constantly been ignored, since he has no platform to raise his voice. While the word prostitute and whore have ancient origin the word gigolo was coined in 1920.

3. Literature in appreciation of female beauty

Voluminous literature has been created in praise of female beauty. Some characters like Helen and Cleopatra have become immortal, though it is not sure if they were really beautiful. Males have received no such praise even from female authors. Female authors have never revealed if they are attracted by the physical attributes of a male. They pose that character is more important for men. In ‘Joseph Andrews’ by Henry Fielding, Joseph writes a letter to his sister Pamela. He writes"chastity is as great virtue in a man as in woman”, and vows to preserve it at any cost.Men deserves better attention from women writers. We need more female writers to write about physical beauty of men and his sufferings if he chooses to remain chaste.

4. Henpecked Husbands

Havelock Ellis in his book "Psychology of Sex" said 95% male masturbates and rest tell a lie. The same is true for henpecked husband. All married men are henpecked in some way or other. Either they are proud of it or they are ashamed of it. This is an eternal suffering. Nagging is said to be the birthright of women.This is high time we make certain law to protect rights of henpecked husbands.

5. Cuckold Husbands
The definition is funny, but not the situation.

William Congreve in his famous play "The way of the world" has shown deceit among upper class English households. Fainall complains "My wife is an arrant wife and I am a cuckold...".A cuckold husband is more despised character than a whore. There is a complete genre of man which is grossly condemned by society. Pimp is one of them. We have stories about famous harlot and prostitutes but nobody has written about pimps who made them famous.

The Story of Three Girls On the Bridge in search of Identity

Three girls decided to cross the bridge. The bridge was made of ropes and wooden planks. The planks were weathered and the rope was sick. They had no work on the other side of the bridge. They wanted to cross it for the sake of fun and adventure. When they were almost at the midway the bridge broke. One girl fell down in the river, one was hanging by holding the rope and the third one was still standing on the plank of the bridge that was about to give way. The Fallen, The Falling and About to Fall are three women(girls became women when bridge brakes) about whom the whole literature of the world has been written. The women were not insecure, only bridge was insecure. The juxtaposition created an illusion which women enjoyed.

The river beneath the bridge thronged with dead bodies of male. From above the bridge they looked dead, but actually they were not dead. They were at various stages of unconsciousness. Youth was unconscious and elders whimpered inaudibly in semi consciousness. There were no children. No literature in the world has ever portrayed the suffering and agony of the gender of this species. The Nausea had caused Metamorphosis in The Strangers. They all had similar faces. Why would anybody take interest in them. They were all archetypes of cave man wearing different masks. Civilization taught them to conceal their true-type. They were basically disorganized, aimless and inactive.

Women were organized, active and focused by their natural gift of virginity, menstruation and menopause. They searched for identity since they knew they have one. The man was even unconscious about that. He became active only when provoked by women.

The level of consciousness of the males changed due to Fallen girl. The Fallen girl had the role models of Anna Karenina, Moll Flanders, Constance Chatterley and Madam Bovary. All these women had flouted the prescribed norms of the society and lived their life in their own way. The society looked with awe, but did not dare to condemn them. The readers loved them. Atwood would appreciate them for being Bad Women. They did not care two figs about anybody's opinion. They were all part of a stream, which was not unidirectional. Magnanimity and meanness are unconfined. The Fallen women had more magnanimity.

The Falling woman who was still sticking to unstranded rope, and each strand was breaking under the pressure, looked up and down. She was not afraid to fall, she was just waiting for all strands to break and then she would have a natural fall. She remembered the naked dance of Connie in the rain. Connie was in unison with nature. The dance was not an effort of celebration, it was a synchronization of her entire being with all the elements of nature. She danced like a peacock. The final strand would break by her will to power.

The one who still stood on the damaged wooden plank of the bridge was Emma. She had a conditioned mind, initially. She thought fallen are lower class, falling are middle class and she herself was upper class. After repeated mistakes she had learned her lessons. Now she knew her "matchmaking" was actually voyeuristic and she always took pleasure in imagining those couple copulating. Thus she herself had vicariously enjoyed the clandestine pleasure of proximity and copulation with almost all the male characters around her. Now, after getting married with Mr. Knightly, who was much older than her, she knew in her heart that Harriet and Robert Martin would supersede her in carnal pleasure. So about to Fall was in no way different from Fallen and Falling.

Will Child Marriage be Again in Vogue?

There is no difference in many advance and backward countries of the world so far as the law related to marriage and divorce is concerned. Just like every state in US can make its own law to decide the age of marriage, In India every religion is entitled to adhere to Personal Law.

The Personal Law deals with marriage, divorce, maintenance, inheritance and adoption laws. Despite repeated commands by the Supreme Court the Government in power is avoiding Uniform Civil Code. The main reason is minority status of all other religions in India except Hindu. Minority constitutes a vote bank to whom no political party in power wants to displease.

The Gujarat High Court has decided that a Muslim girl can marry when she attains puberty or 15 years of age.

Almost every girl attains puberty when she is still legally minor. How a Muslim minor girl deservs to be married when girls of other religions are restricted?

According to a Report “The onset of puberty varies among individuals. Puberty usually occurs in girls between the ages of 10 and 14, while in boys it generally occurs later, between the ages of 12 and 16. In some African-American girls, puberty begin earlier, at about age 9, meaning that puberty occurs from ages 9 to 14."

"Adolescent girls reach puberty today at earlier ages than were ever recorded previously. Nutritional and other environmental influences may be responsible for this change. For example, the average age of the onset of menstrual periods in girls was 15 in 1900. By the 1990s, this average had dropped to 12 and a half years of age.”

On one hand the age of attaining puberty has declined and on the other hand, there is a sharp rise in the cases of child abuse. In US 3 million cases of child abuse are reported every year out of which 49% or physical or sexual abuse. In India 53% of children face one or more forms of sexual abuse. If we include unreported cases the number is unbelievably high.

You may ask in what kind of society we are living? In India child marriage, which once was very common is now seen as a social stigma. There is a law prohibiting child marriage.

The prevalent practice is that after marriage the bride was not sent with the bridegroom and lived with her parents till she attained puberty and was emotionally mature to adjust to new life. The actual departure of the bride took place after a small ceremony of Gauna associated with the consummation of marriage.

This system remained in vogue for many centuries. It had certain logical advantages

1. Economy - The women were assets in most of agrarian communities. They were generally more laborious and methodical than their male counterparts. Girls were best in taking care of cattle and milking animals. Cows and goats had more productivity when tended by girls.

The parents of the girl tried to postpone Gauna, even after she attained puberty. Though they kept a close watch on her activities and when they found her taking an interest in the boys of her age or eager to meet her bridegroom on one pretext or another, they thought it was high time she may be delivered to her rightful owner.

2. Auspicious Day - The ceremony of marriage has to take place on auspicious days. The astrologers and fortune tellers used to charge money for deciding the day. The Akha Teej is one such day when marriage can be performed even without consulting a priest or astrologer.

3. Advantages of Bulk Marriages - The marriages occurred in bulk on such days. Often all brothers and sisters of one family got married on the same date. It saved a lot of money. A huge feast to all the members of the community was most expensive affair in a marriage. That feast had to be given only once if all children were married on the same day.

4. Family Bondage - A marriage was seen as bonding between two families. In ancient time wedding in royal families was solemnised for strengthening the kingdom. By early marriage the clan was expanded to take care of any kind of emergencies in both the families.

5. Advance Booking - Now a days, in case of arranged marriage, it has become a Herculean task for the parents to search a suitable boy/girl. Most of the suitable bachelors are thronged and have a variety of options to choose from depending on their taste and temperament.

The basic choice is between money and beauty as envisaged by Daniel Defoe in Moll Flanders. Moll says “ I have the money and I want the beauty, but as Times go now, the first will do without the last.”

Child marriage was used as an instrument to curb the desire of child abuse and sustain a sane society. In The Old Man and The Nymph a young girl who is a divine spirit brings a new ray of hope in the life of worn out old man. Such symbiotic relationships are exceptions, and society silently approves such discrepancies in which male is major beneficiary.

Child marriage is circumvent way of committing child abuse.

Poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, competition, consumerism and insecurity are some of the reasons of manic depression in youth of the world. The manic depressive youth finds an outlet in the child abuse. The elimination of socio-economic causes is no more in the hands of society.

A male chauvinist may opine that any girl out of cradle is old enough to get married. The age difference between spouse is important biological and social issue. Is mature older husband more suitable for innocent, emotional girl? Please give your opinion about "ideal age difference" to expand the article.

The Gender of God

God Is A Person

William Phillips a Nobel laureate Physicist who did pioneering work on laser cooled atoms said "God is a person".

The debate about gender of God could be the foundation that would decide the future of Christianity. Once the initial shock of raising the issue subsides and pundits of spirituality are ready to debate on the issue many new theories would evolve that may help us in understanding unsolved mysteries of the universe to some extent or at least a new dimension would be created in that direction.

Godel's theorem "we can never prove anything for sure" implies that logic has its own limitation. Faith begins where logic ends, and faith is a delusion (Nietzsche), so in the end, we may reach to from where we begin, but in that circumambulation we will discover many truths that can lead us to discover The Absolute Truth.

Exodus 18:4, Genesis 22:2 refers to LORD god who created Eve from the rib (tsela in Arabic means side) of Adam. Eve was not formed from the dust of the Earth as in the case of Adam. Adam accepted Eve as "bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh". But how does this make a man superior? Or a master of female gender?. Does a person who donates blood, bone marrow, eye or kidney is in anyway master of the person who has received the donation. Most of the time they even do not know each other.

There was no dearth of earth and the Lord could have easily formed another structure complementary to his debut, but he preferred side, and that was no experiment on his power of creation, but there was a message for future mankind in it. After the discovery of bone marrow and stem cells and their capacity of "regeneration" has given a new dimension of the meaning of the word regeneration as used in the Bible. In "in vitro fertilization " the baby is formed without sin and is technically more superior to those born by sin.

However the silicon chips used by Lord (referred to as dust of the earth) was the "matter" Lord used to create a mannequin of man and life ("energy") was transferred by his breath. In Sankhyaa (Sanskrit scripture) the role of light, action and inertia are said to be vital for evolution. The interplay of Purusha and Prakriti ie. primordial matter and consciousness is the only theory that not only equates the role of male and female powers in the formation of the world but also shows the superiority of feminine energy.

The Supreme God could be without attributes, a condensed form of energy and matter, a lump of radiations. The science is too nascent to understand mysteries of nature. We need many more postulates , theories, hypothesis, assumption and axioms to determine the gender of nature in its true and original form.

Meanwhile consider the "HeSh" to be His gender.

A Tale of Castrated Bull

He starts from point A every morning and by the time of evening when his eyes are uncovered, he finds himself again at point A. But he has a sort of satisfaction that he had a long journey that day, maybe he missed the scenery on the way, but the satisfaction and smile on the face of his master tells that he has really performed well. This had been his routine for many years and he has walked thousands of miles, and if his blindfolds were not removed every night, he would have thought himself to be on the other end of the Earth. Thankfully, his master took great care of him after his work was done, massaged him, gave fodder, gave him a bath if required, and saw that he was comfortably settled in the stable. At his Bovine family, he was looked upon as someone drafted for good and not only his mature counterparts of the opposite sex, but even the heifers could know that he was good for nothing and turned their faces away, when he grazed with them in the pastures. He cannot forgive the one who had one fine morning removed his vital part to convert him into that which changed his destiny. And he could do nothing about it. God was great, but man was mischievous.

Now nothing matters. All beautiful heifers have no meaning for him. Even his nose is permanently obliterated to identify estrus. May be his long walk would lead him to land where he would regain his lost bullhood.

How strange it is that his female counterparts never claimed that equality with them that his master's wife always demanded with her husband. His counterpart females were contended with milking, propagation and ultimately being served as beef. Not that he finds any difference in the life of his female counterparts and that of his master's wife. The comparison is endless and he was astounded with parities. The only thing he doesn't know is that his master's wife would be chopped when she goes sterile or they would wait even longer, when she is finally of no use. If this disease of equality spreads in his bovine family, he is sure it is going to create a havoc. His cousin and even his real younger brother were spared by his master, who only gelded him of his vitality. His neutrality of gender had made him stoically neutral towards all issues pertaining to life- or even death for that purpose.

His endless walk is very purposeful. He knows by the smell of sesame, groundnut and mustard. Many times master or his little son has exclaimed with happiness. Once master told his son the story of Sisyphus. He was a king who could even cheat the God of death. He was ultimately condemned to drag the boulder uphill and let it roll down and then drag it up again till eternity. The child had innocently asked "Is our Joe (well, that's his name) also Sisyphus"? He was very intent to know what his master thinks about him. But like all masters he too laughed it off. No good master should reveal his true opinion about his servants. A confused servant serves a better purpose than an opined servant.

Once he met a maverick colleague in the grass field. He was liberated by his master, but he was feeling abandoned. He felt desolate and rejected due to identity crisis. He always took pride in being owned by his master, though when he was serving, he always cursed his master for being cruel and hard task master. Now when he was independent he remembered all the good qualities of his master. How much care he took of him, kept him warm in chilling winters and fed him good fodder even when he fell sick. Others took pity on him and tried to help him out, but he was also too arrogant to accept the help of others. Everybody thought he had no future, till one winter evening a lady who looked affluent by her carriage and dress, stopped near him. She found he was shivering so she asked his coach to find out that if there is no owner, he should be provided with shelter and fodder. Liberation always leads to some other kind of slavery. Frankly speaking, there is no true liberation. One amazing thing he found was that these affluent people always had a lot of pity for all types of our kind, but little or no mercy for their own kind. After some time he found that his colleague waited anxiously for the lady to take his care. He had gained good health, there was meat on his bones and he looked more well fed than his fellow grazers. What he did not know was that a group of wolves from nearby woods was making a conspiracy to attack on him at night.

Thankfully, he(Joe) had a short memory. Most of the time he lived in present and had no obsession to repeat what has happened in the past or to dream about what may happen in future. He could retrieve a few things from the immediate past, but that was all. He was truly happy with kind of mind set. He disliked his master when he mentioned very old incidents with great fondness or talk about prosperous future which would never come. He saw his short memory as a boon. It not only saved him from the vices of revenge, greed and anger, but also, prevented him from making silly mistakes like his master, who sometimes forgot to cover him with a blanket in the cold winter night and he had to shiver the whole night. Is US ready for woman President

Fourth Wave Feminism

I sincerely think that we are over with Third Wave of feminism.

Without struggle for what we have achieved so far, we can head for Fourth Wave.

Yes, we will have as many waves as possible to make our point. Since we are done with the issues of suffrage, social equality, sexual and reproductive rights, (pageants are no more cattle parades) and are comfortable with Neo-Marxist-psycho-analytically amalgamated version of eco-feminist Woman who is proud of being tagged as Bitch(a strong, angry, uncompromising woman who is not interested in pleasing a man) or a Slut (fun-loving, rebel, proud of assets). I think these two words should be used for both the genders since they define an attitude which is not gender based and is not uncommon in men also. A man can also be proudly assigned all those tags which he has so far kept reserved for women. I mean, why a man cannot be called a slut, especially if he is behaving like one. (Keeps many sexual partners and is unkempt).

Now when we enter into Fourth Wave we need a paradigm shift. So far women organizations were demanding rights or whatever from male dominated institutions. Suppose the women are Head of all the institutions and everywhere they are on the other side of the table questioning hegemony of patriarchal rules. All constitutions, law, rules and regulations are rewritten scraping any trace of bigotry against fair gender. In that case, suppose, rape would be redefined and punished in a way that blood of any male would freeze even with the thought of committing a rape (like public castration).

Nations need to be governed by women. In past Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi, Suu Kyi, Benazir Bhutto, Sirimavo Bhandarnaike (all Eastern countries' leaders) have done well, but presently except Angela Merkel (Germany) no other major western country is led by a woman leader. Democracy in most of the Western Countries is not mature enough to be led by a woman.

In 2007 when Russian President Vladimir Putin took his giant dog Labrador when he went for a conference with Germany's Angela Merkel. Having attacked by a dog in the year 1995 Merkel was obviously scared by proximity of an offensive looking dog. An apology has come a bit too late. CNN on 12 January 2016 explained that he didn't mean to scare while Merkel said he did this to prove that he is a man. He is afraid of his own weakness. US will have to ensure that their female Head of Nation is not scared of any animal. Thankfully cockroach is not a pet animal.

In the year 2006, during G8 summit Bush had rubbed Merkel up the wrong way(The Guardian). Many countries might be waiting for their chance when a female takes over as President of US.
