Secret of Cosmos in Vedic Literature

Science and Religion: Workshop on Veda and Science

Pexels

In English Literature we tend to differentiate in the countries where English is the native language or it is second or third language. In the long history of literature in India, five languages have remained the official language at different stages.

1. Sanskrit- Up to Mughal invasion
2. Persian-Brought by Moghuls
3, Urdu - Based on Hindi, Arabic and Persian
4. English- During British regime
5. Hindi - written in Devanagari script having 13 dialects.

Sanskrit is the ancient language of India, and was lingua franca in Greater India. A broad definition of literature would consider all text is literature, whether written or oral.

Vedas are large bodies of text generated in ancient India. They are the oldest scriptures available to human civilization. There are four Vedas

1. Rigveda
2. Yajurveda
3. Samaveda
4. Atharvaveda

In the end of the famous book “One hundred years of solitude” Gabriel Garcia Marquez said “"It was the history of the family, written by Melquiades, down to the most trivial details, one hundred years ahead of time. He had written it in Sanskrit...". So it is just possible that Sanskrit was also popular in South America.

Actually, many theories support the argument that South America was Patala described in Hindu Mythology. The main argument in the support of the theory is that in a tunnel map the antipode of India is South America. It had seven regions based on the seven levels of evolution of psyche of human beings. According to a theory Ulupi the wife of Arjuna, was from South America (Patala). Apsara~Nina Bonita, a literary fiction based on Hindu Mythology has interesting details of it.

In Vedic Science the interpretation of many scholars of Sanskrit and scientist and physicist working in NASA especially of Indian origin have reached to the conclusion that the Secrets of Cosmos were known to Indian Sages in Vedic Era.

Seminar Hall, Language Wing, JNV University Jodhpur

In a 5 days Seminar held by Department of Sanskrit, JNV University, Jodhpur which commenced from Jan. 18, 2016 many scholars of Sanskrit, Physicist, and Scientist of NASA, discussed various issues and some interpretations and assumptions were drawn on following lines:

1. The static element that governs the dynamics of the cosmos, is beyond time and space. This is called consciousness.

2. Vajna is not only a ritual but a scientific process of transfer of energy. Soma is offered to Agni in whole cosmos. Like rainfall is Soma and ploughed land is source of Agni, which germinates seeds. Soma has downward movement like all liquids, and Agni has upward movement like gases.

3. Yajurveda describes three dimensions of existence, appearance, values and vision.

4. The science can answer How cosmos was created, but Veda answers Why it was created.

5. Consciousness in convertible in Energy. Pran is converted into matter. Science is observation of the behavior of nature. Technocrat interferes with nature. Jaan is acquiring knowledge of Whole, Vijyan is knowledge of Parts.

6. In Tao of Physics Fritjof Capra said Heinsberg while making Quantum Theory visited India and had long discussions with R. N. Tagore about Indian Philosophy in context with Quantum Theory. The knowledge that scientist obtain by Logic was obtained by the Sages through introspection.

7. Niels Bohr said  “We must be clear when it comes to atom, language can be used only as in Poetry”. Consciousness is beyond space and time.

8. The 9 forms of Goddess Durga represent nine types of Energy namely Potential Energy, Kinetic Energy, Sound Energy, Nuclear Energy, Magnetic Energy, Atomic Energy, Thermal Energy, Electrical Energy and Chemical Energy.

9.  References of Fermions and Bosons from Vedas were quoted. Six types of quarks Up, Down, Strange, Charm, Top and Bottom were identified and relevant verse connotes the particle theory in Vedas. Vedic seers when asked Which deity should we offer the worship? (kasme devay havisha vidhem~Sanskrit verse from Vedas), it was referring to the particle that is fundamental to all deities.

10. The concept of Hiranyagarbha (Golden Womb) was compared with the Big Bang Theory. It requires a lot of research to reach a final conclusion. The Multiverse has a Grand Design as per Hawking, but the object of its formation is yet to be determined.

Mortal Sins By Immortal Men

Why Bapu Asaram is Still Behind Bars?

                                                                                     Bapu by Newswala

The bureaucracy, the legislature and Judiciary of any country when determines to harass any citizen of that country, they always succeed by making a mountain of a molehill. The story of religious head Bapuji is almost similar. It was pre decided to harass him and then a case was fabricated. Bapu like an innocent child walked into a trap. Wilbur Smith in his adventure stories of South Africa has described a similar trap used by Zulu tribes.

Enough has been written about the case. The details of the incident, efforts made by the police to prove the charges and appearance of national level advocate to defend Bapu, many petitions by a defense lawyer, violent demonstration of followers and disciples have remained the headlines of the newspapers for long. But nothing seems to be working. Every time Bapu was brought to court, huge mass gathered around Jail and Court, and Newspapers flashed pictures of Bapu, sometime gloomy and pleading mercy, sometime jovial and fully confident that nothing bad could happen to him.

Bapu is accused of sexually molesting a minor girl. That girl was a student of one of the many charity institutions run by Bapu and his follower. The girl was brought to the private chamber of Bapu for cure by tantric rituals. Her parents who were staunch follower of Bapu were sitting outside. They had given implied consent for treatment. Read more about such tantric rituals in Maya.

All religious institutions all over the world are accused of corruption from time to time. Often we hear the same thing about churches. The priest and clergy are accused of the same crimes as levied against various Gurus and Mahant (Head of a sect). If the Government or King runs a campaign to clear the corruption of all religious institutions by enacting laws and constituting commissions for all religious bodies, it could be appreciated by the common man. But when some isolated people are targeted  and made to suffer, the society does not approve of it. The ruling party or Kings have always supported a particular religion or sect to gain political strength. Politics is like a prostitute, it has no character. The political ideology becomes secondary when the leader of ruling party wants to weaken the radical forces within his own party. The cost is the life of a scapegoat and that scapegoat is Bapuji.

Andrew Greeley was an American Roman Catholic priest. He wrote many novels exposing the corruption in churches. He said his books are ”less erotic than the Song of Songs in the scriptures."[He insisted that from what they heard in confession from women, priests probably knew more about marriage than most married men; and he drew on this knowledge to write a marital advice book he called Sexual Intimacy (1988). The Priestly Sins (2004), a novel about a young priest who is exiled to an insane asylum and then to an academic life because he reports abuse that he has witnessed. Bollywood movie SINS was inspired by a true incident. The Catholic Priest of a small village in Kerala exploits a young student of Nursing College to quench his lust. The movie was banned to appease the Christian community and due to explicit scenes.

Louise Kretzschmar  in her paper presented in Church Ethics Commission has raised the issue that “Do religious leaders teach the people in power- be it political, business or religious, to resist the temptation  of greed, corruption and selfish behavior.

All religious heads are human being though they are expected to behave as superhuman. There is nothing wrong with it. How a religious head would be different from a common man, if he too falls to temptation.

The protection of children from sexual offenses (POCSO) Act 2012 is elaborate act and covers all aspects. The said Act defines a child as any person below eighteen years of age, and defines different forms of sexual abuse, including penetrative and non-penetrative assault, as well as sexual harassment and pornography, and deems a sexual assault to be “aggravated” under certain circumstances, such as when the abused child is mentally ill or when the abuse is committed by a person in a position of trust or authority vi's-à-is the child, like a family member, police officer, teacher, or doctor. Read about legitimate violation of the act in "The Old Man".

The birth certificate is issued by local bodies like Municipal Corporation in urban areas and Gram Panchayat in rural areas. Since two out of five births takes place at home the medical certificate is not mandatory to obtain a birth certificate. Some modern scientific techniques must be adopted to ascertain the age of victim. The birth certificate is not authentic proof of age in this country.

According to a report Devdasi System is still prevalent in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana provinces of India. It may be prevalent in other state also. It is socially accepted exploitation system of minor girls by priests in the name of religion. Are we able to stop that? Does the law of the land applies on them? Or they have some different set of rules.

The Bapu did not rape the girl. Medical Examination has proved that. If properly argued the bail is imminent in this case.

Religion and Cult :Radhey Maa

Celebration of Joy

                                                                                                         Osho by Drawing Portrait

When You Celebrate, the Whole Existence Participates with You

“I celebrate myself, and I hope soon the day will come you will be celebrating yourself. And when thousands and thousands of people around the earth are celebrating, singing, dancing, ecstatic, drunk with the divine, there is no possibility of any global suicide."-Osho

A religion is an old cult. A cult is new religious movement. - biography.

Cult accepts religion as its source of origin, but religion does not accept cult. Religion is conservative and cult is modern and liberal.

Radhey Maa and numerous like her are cults that enriches religion. Religion is fear, cult is hope.

To an extent you can generate fear and exploit the people, but after that it is a celebration of joy that liberates people from fear and enjoy religion.

Radhey Maa is pioneer of the new cult in Religion. In many cults like Nagas and Digambar Jains nakedness was a code. But females were not permitted to join such cults.

Condemnation by media has proved that Radhey Maa has a point to make. The media is so sensitive about its own freedom but surprisingly callous when it comes to freedom of speech and expressions by others. How does it matter that Radhey Maa is dancing in mini skirt and sits in the lap of man, so far as no law of the land is broken.

Osho (from Sex to Superconsciousness) also faced media trial for his meditation camps. During Meditation his followers and disciples use to dance and reached to ecstasy oblivious of clothes.

When Adam and Eve decided to cover the private parts, civilisation started. Civilisation is the cause of all sufferings. So the cult of nudist is in vogue.

The Soul doesn’t have a gender. The religion is path of the soul. It wants to see beyond gender.

In Buddhism the follower of Vajrayogini believes that Vajrayogini manifests herself in the enjoyment form which is beyond this world. Therefore, the deity is beyond gender and beyond discrimination.

A few years back One Indian Police Officer of Director General rank D.K.Panda declared himself as Doosri Radha that is second Radha and resigned from his job. He use to sing on roads dressed up as a bride and beloved of Lord Krishna “Radha”, wearing anklets, a nose ring and vermilion on his forehead and a duptta. He sings and dances on roads. Any Psychiatrist would not hesitate to identify it as perversion of transgender. Panda is not alone, he got famous because he was a high placed Police official, there are thousands of followers who worship Krishna dressed up as Radha.

The name Radha itself is highly symbolic. If read in reverse order it is Dhara which means flow or stream. It is flow of energy in our body. It has downward trend that is why Radha. By meditation the energy is directed upwards. It can either be done by hard penance or by rituals of Tantra. In tantra the female power (yum) plays an important role. Read Maya.

D.H.Lawrence faced severe criticism from many feminist like Kate Millet. They brutally assaulted and labeled him misogynist. He is also one of the authors most read by women. Like E.L.James is more read and admired by the females. No feminist approves of such authors, though paradoxically they are more adored by females.

Aristotle said there is no such thing as hot water, but only hot water in some container.

Isolated truth, without a context is farce.

Luke 7:37 says that Jesus accepted the perfume brought by sinful woman.

So what is the harm if Radhey Maa accepts mini skirt, wears it and dances in that, for the amusement of her disciples.

People of dubious past and character like Rahul Mahajan and Dolly Bindra have waged a war against religious head and celebrities to serve ulterior purpose of their own. The lacuna in the system of bureaucracy and legislature, greedy media and weaknesses of celebrities are their weapons of extortion.

RIGHT TO DIE DENIED

Jain Religious Rites Banned :Death, Law and Literature

“The thought of suicide is a great consolation: by means of it one gets through many a dark night.’” Friedrich Nietzsche
The right to Life is Fundamental Right in Indian Constitution. A literary interpretation is that the Right to Life automatically includes "Right to Die". Otherwise how we would justify that so many millions of people have Right to Life but are not provided with the means to sustain that Life.

Jainism is one of the oldest religions. The last prophet Mahavir is more than 2500 years old. Nonviolence is their main preaching. How such religion can permit voluntary death, if it is at all violent.

Many hundreds of Jain old people opt for Santhra or voluntary death in India.

Emily Dickinson welcomes to death in her poem “Because I Could Not Stop For Death”

Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me;
The carriage held but just ourselves
And Immortality....

Walt Whitman says Death is a prize won.

O Captain! My Captain!
O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's perception of death is

The Cross of Snow
In the long, sleepless watches of the night,
A gentle face--the face of one long dead--
Looks at me from the wall, where round its head
The night-lamp casts a halo of pale light....

William Blake in his poem On Another's Sorrow see Death as kind relief

Can I see another's woe,
And not be in sorrow too?
Can I see another's grief,
And not seek for kind relief?..

William Butler Yeats in his poem A Dream Of Death has wondered about solitude death provides.

I dreamed that one had died in a strange place
Near no accustomed hand,
And they had nailed the boards above her face,
The peasants of that land,
Wondering to lay her in that solitude,

Robert Browning  in his poem A Death in the Desert has given a beautiful description of death.

Almost all writers have praised the mystery and awe of death and old age.

In Harakari Seppuku  is defined as "Japanese ritual of the samurai used either voluntarily by samurai to die with honor rather than fall into the hands of their enemies (and likely suffer torture) or as a form of capital punishment for samurai who had committed serious offenses, or performed because they had brought shame to themselves".

sati,death,santhara

Likewise, in Rajput warrior's ritual of Johar was performed. The act is defined  as the practice of mass suicide carried out in medieval times by Rajput women to save their honor from invaders.[Photo:Kalyan:Johar(self-immolation) by Rajput widows after war]

Another popular ritual was of Sati. Sati refers to the obsolete(?) Indian funeral custom where a widow, was expected to immolate herself on her husband's pyre, or committed suicide in another fashion shortly after her husband's death at war or from other causes.

Voluntary death is not a transgression. It is a highly acclaimed transmission of one form into another for a better purpose. Especially so in Santhara. Jainism otherwise also has a strong belief in penance.

According to Jainism the Pudgal or Matter has two forms 1. Gross 2. Subtle. Gross matter is perceptible, everything that we see around us, while subtle matter is manifested as Karma. The Karma gets attached to a soul as dirt gets attached to the sticky surface. The object of austerities and penance is to annihilate old karma and stop the influx of new karma.

Dainik Bhaskar-Jain Community protest march against the decision of High Court prohibiting Santhara

How any legal system can stop anyone from achieving the highest objective of salvation. One of the major objections raised is priests of Jain could not produce any religious text in support of the rituals. The Jain scriptures are some of the oldest scriptures known to human civilization. Rig Veda finds a mention of the first prophet of Jain religion. At that time the information was passed from one generation to another by word of mouth. Since the Santhara is being performed for centuries and is part of religion, it cannot be denied on such a paltry ground.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra: “Many die too late and a few die too early. The doctrine still sounds strange: “Die at the right time.”- Thus Spoke Zarathustra (Friedrich Nietzsche)

We have a history of privilege to end life. ~Tall Man Small Shadow. ( A youth is convicted for attempt to suicide and faces humiliation, while an old Jain Lady is revered for Santhara i.e.fast unto death)

Supreme Court Stays High Court Judgement

Justice seems to be prevailing. Supreme Court stayed the High Court decision that Santhara is also suicide and thus illegal. Various religious bodies of Jain Community had filed petition against decision of High Court of declaring Santhara as illegal. The same tenets were considered while granting stay that have been raised in the article. The Santhara is part of Jain Philosophy, and courts should abstain from interfering in the core rituals of any religion.

According to Durkheim the abnormally high or level of social integration results in suicide. He made an observation that the rate of suicide is low in Catholics since they have normal level of social integration.Low level of social integration results in disorganised society and suicide is seen as last remedy while in high level of social integration the person think himself to be a burden on society and thus commit suicide.
Santhara is also governed by this "Control Theory" of Durkheim.(You may Tweet this).

Social scientists have expressed concern over increase in suicidal rate in soldiers and students. Both of them live a mission oriented life. They work not only for duty but to prove themselves. The high expectation of society, insecurity, apprehension of failure, lack of self confidence, peer pressure are some of the other reasons of suicide. State should provide them stress free environment and society should take care of emotional need of these segments of society.Meditation camp can be arranged to reduce the anxiety by acceptance of inevitable.

Kota in Rajasthan(India), is hub of tuition centres for students aspiring to be IITian or a Doctor. Every month few students commit suicide in this city. Parents have put lot of expectations from their children. Invariably the students have left a suicide note addressed to their parents. In the note, they have apologised for their inability to fulfil the dreams of their parents.

Kamala Das famous English poet could not reconcile her inner world to her external world, her body to her soul, she addresses her monologue to the sea who(personification) can act as medium of her salvation (suicide).

O sea I am fed up
I want to be simple
I want to be loved
And
If love is not to be had
I want to be dead, just dead.

The Gender of God

                         God Is A Person

William Phillips a Nobel laureate Physicist who did pioneering work on laser cooled atoms said "God is a person".

The debate about gender of God could be the foundation that would decide the future of Christianity. Once the initial shock of raising the issue subsides and pundits of spirituality are ready to debate on the issue many new theories would evolve that may help us in understanding unsolved mysteries of the universe to some extent or at least a new dimension would be created in that direction.

Godel's theorem "we can never prove anything for sure" implies that logic has its own limitation. Faith begins where logic ends, and faith is a delusion (Nietzsche), so in the end, we may reach to from where we begin, but in that circumambulation we will discover many truths that can lead us to discover The Absolute Truth.

Exodus 18:4, Genesis 22:2 refers to LORD god who created Eve from the rib (tsela in Arabic means side) of Adam. Eve was not formed from the dust of the Earth as in the case of Adam. Adam accepted Eve as "bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh". But how does this make a man superior? Or a master of female gender?. Does a person who donates blood, bone marrow, eye or kidney is in anyway master of the person who has received the donation. Most of the time they even do not know each other.

There was no dearth of earth and the Lord could have easily formed another structure complementary to his debut, but he preferred side, and that was no experiment on his power of creation, but there was a message for future mankind in it. After the discovery of bone marrow and stem cells and their capacity of "regeneration" has given a new dimension of the meaning of the word regeneration as used in the Bible. In "in vitro fertilization " the baby is formed without sin and is technically more superior to those born by sin.

However the silicon chips used by Lord (referred to as dust of the earth) was the "matter" Lord used to create a mannequin of man and life ("energy") was transferred by his breath. In Sankhyaa (Sanskrit scripture) the role of light, action and inertia are said to be vital for evolution. The interplay of Purusha and Prakriti ie. primordial matter and consciousness is the only theory that not only equates the role of male and female powers in the formation of the world but also shows the superiority of feminine energy.

The Supreme God could be without attributes, a condensed form of energy and matter, a lump of radiations. The science is too nascent to understand mysteries of nature. We need many more postulates , theories, hypothesis, assumption and axioms to determine the gender of nature in its true and original form.

Meanwhile consider the "HeSh" to be His gender.
